KEY INFORMATION NETWORK

WHAT IS THE KEY INFORMATION NETWORK (KIN)?

KIN stands for Key Information Network. It’s a team of CalArts-United UAW members across all departments who are committed to staying informed, helping to disseminate accurate information to all members, and mobilizing their coworkers to take action, regardless of whether a contract is in a stage of active bargaining or not.

WHO CAN BECOME KIN?

Any union member who is actively attending meetings and willing to have conversations with a handful of other colleagues at least once a month can become part of the KIN! Leadership/Bargaining skills are NOT a requirement for this role; all you need is a commitment to stay informed, and a passion to help other union members stay up-to-speed and get engaged!

WHAT KIN MEMBERS DO

  • Publicly Participate and Stay Informed: Stay up-to-date with current CalArts United-UAW actions, events, and goals, and be a visible supporter of the union (wear union gear, show up to town halls, etc.).
  • Engage Coworkers and Build Community: Help mobilize, inform, and connect members through regular outreach and recurring one-on-one conversations with a consistent cohort of coworkers.
  • Share the Load: Help train and recruit other union members to become KIN (as needed) so that the shared duty of organizing is manageable for all.
